More than 50 people attended FIPWA onsite at Dollyup Street in Stake Hill for this much-anticipated industry event that followed the official opening of FIPWA.
On the basis that Australia is known to produce an abundance of agricultural crops for our own consumption and to supply our export partners, our expert guest speakers, from industry and government, discussed issues affecting the industry in WA.
Topics included:
How does the large production volumes in the State address food security needs?
How do we sufficiently value-add to the raw product by manufacturing food and beverages that are needed domestically and by our export partners?
Can we move the needle from dig-and-ship raw products to value-adding and product development from farm-to-plate at scale?
How do we go about playing to our comparative advantages through innovative step changes? Where are the opportunities and challenges in moving ahead?
Before finishing up Dr Vas was joined by Liam O’Connell and Kim Antonio from Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development to further discussions around opportunities for WA businesses.
We thank Spinifex Brewery and Small Things Wine for being event partners and providing us with a cold beverage at the event’s conclusion.
Stay tuned for a funding and collaboration announcement coming soon!
